The Southern California Nikkei Golf Association (SCNGA) was
formed in November 1958 with 14 charter club members: Air Flite, Brookside,
CrownCity, El Patio, LongBeach, Max Flite, Orange County, Par Flite, San Diego,
Top Flite, Top Notch, West L.A., Western Avenue, and Members-at-Large.
Much of the credit for its formation is credited to George Wada
1st President with Yas Mikuriya as executive secretary, Ty Saito as Handicap
Chairmant, and Fred Harada as publicity chairman.
Currently the SCNGA is made up of 13 SCGA affiliate Nikkei
Golf Clubs with over 400 members throughout Southern
California.
As the principal ruling body for Nikkei golf Tournaments in
Southern California, the SCNGA:
- administers a handicapping system for SCNGA's golf
tournaments;
- provides a wide variety of services to member clubs and
individuals;
- works tirelessly to promote Nikkei golf throughout Southern
California.
The SCNGA clubs are affiliate clubs of the SCGA and are not
connected with a golf course but, instead, are groups of people who band
together out of a mutual love for the game of golf.
The SCNGA board is made up of 16 volunteer officers representing
the Nikkei Clubs of Southern California. The board is designed to serve member
clubs and the people who belong to those clubs, and to promote the game of
golf.
